Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dhalai (KVK DHALAI) is a district level institution (Farm Science Centre) engaged in transfer of latest agricultural technologies to the end users for bridging the gap between production and productivity. It works through partnership mode with allied departments and agencies. The KVK Dhalai was established vide sanction Memo No. 9-23/2002-AE-1 dated 15-07-2005 under the administrative control of the Department of Agriculture, Government of Tripura with financial assistance from ICAR. Since inception this KVK has been endeavoring for the up-liftment of socio-economic condition of the farming community of the district through scientific intervention in the agricultural and allied sectors.
Mission:
- To work as Knowledge and Resource Centre of agricultural technologies for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sectors in improving the agricultural economy of the district. Provide farm advisories using ICT and other media means on varied subjects of interest to farmers.
- Bringing desirable behavioural changes associated with awareness, knowledge, skill and attitude among the farmers and other stakeholders for technology-led growth in farming and allied enterprises.
Vision:
- Increase the income of vulnerable families through the creation of sustainable livelihood opportunities.
- Promote self-managed and dynamic local level institutions.
- Create healthy living conditions for families and communities in the Kendra’s working area.
- Influence on research agenda (and policy) to meet the legitimate requirements of farming communities.
- To implement those practices that improves Soil Health and Productivity.
- To harvest rain water, recharge ground water and recycle waste water.
- To diversify the sources of income through inclusion of dairy, poultry, sericulture etc.
- To conserve bio-diversity through eco-friendly methods of pest management.
To establish value addition centre for the farm produce.
